Interesting aircraft - what have you seen on your computer today?

I remember seeing a Yemeni one passing overhead my Surrey school on delivery back in around 1980 - think it was out of Prestwick and I assumed it had probably stopped in Greenland and/or Iceland but perhaps not! We used to see the odd Twin Otter on delivery too - and if we were lucky a Caribou going the other way (ex Tanzanian AF, probably now at Cape May with all the other might have been turbine conversions... edit: no, scrapped at Shannon.)
Apologies for the thread drift, but am I imagining seeing a Caribou suffer a crash landing at Farnborough some time in the past ?

Almost - it was a Buffalo, DHC5 (the Caribou was DHC4) Farnborough 1984. Search youTube and you will find it. Flown by Bill Loverseed, who later died in the crash of a Dash7, over Dartmoor, on a C of A airtest out of Guernsey. They stalled and spun after not putting flap down before reducing speed for part of the test. Pulled full back till just before impact...

(Again, apologies for thread drift)

DHC's "Transporter" demonstrator, civilianised Buffalo. Billed afterwards as a heavy landing!

I was watching that KC-135 as well, mate in Worthing said it was noisy, the F-15s explain it - cloudy there.

Thanks for that memory jog. I had thought it was in the late 70's!

Not interesting aircraft, but interesting routes during these times through the London TMA. Today it was a Ryanair 737 (what else?) descending over central London at 7,000ft heading into Gatwick from Dublin. I guess with so little traffic direct routing is possible in most cases outside of busy spurts.

Long range 737

Boeing 737/800 N737M currently coasting in over Liverpool destination Stanstead after a flight direct from Los Angeles. At 10 hours and 8800 km that must be about the max range of a 737!

Two seat Spitfire up from Biggin again today; I presume the cockpit configuration may satisfy social distancing requirements so they could do rides.

Holedriller , this is very interesting - thanks , checked flight on FR24 , non stop 10.5 hours . LA-STN. 8750 Kilometres 4725 N.Miles , a LONG way , sector , for a 737 - its seems over 1600 kilometres 875 N.miles approx. over maximum range for this type , check twice on Boeing / dvbbank specs for this type. Unless I'm missing something, being thick .. Aircraft was empty , no pax/cargo , 737 still on ground at STN , 16.33 BST. SO - It just jumped out at me , flagged , LA to STN. non stop a 737 ? .... 875 N.miles over max range ?

Using the normal E-11A Velcro callsign. It didn't stick around for long.

I believe LHR had a couple of notables today which I watched on a Live Stream (Big Jets TV on YouTube- interesting watch whilst we are deprived of the real thing)

First Aeroflot A350 into LHR and longest non stop Dreamliner flight, BA flight from Bali to LHR.

Noticed on FR24 a Ukrainian Wings B767-300 UR-CSX was in Doncaster (presently showing north of Romania heading SE flight code UWJ). It may have visited a couple of times in the last week.

Titan Airways 757 G-POWH flying STN-LPA (fuel stop)-ANU to pick up the West Indies cricket team. I’m so glad sport is returning over the next few weeks even if it’s not going to be like it was before.

A Globe GC-1B, N61PK, 74 years old, just west of Nantes heading NW towards central Brittany. Looks like it departed from the environs of Pau. Where are all these gems coming from ?
