Do many of you have any experience in an aircraft? I.e. with a PPL? (Not that it is required for this programme).
I'm just waiting for weather to improve to do my PPL skills test. About 48 hours in a C152. It's definitely a you have it or you don't thing. I'm skint after it but an absolutely amazing experience.

Were the TUI aptitude tests difficult?
Verbal reasoning was ok, the numerical was meh and the logical was like trying to build a lego set using instructions written in hieroglyphics on the wall of an Egyptian tomb.

A number of people applying with PPL/Gliding experience. I imagine everyone will be judged based on their experience level equally.

Also given it a go. Completed the tests (logical reasoning that appeared to have zero logic to me lol) and pretty much got the interview invite straight after and did those just now.

We'll see! I'm sure there's so many applications but 'got to be in it to win it'. It is a fantastic and generous opportunity and fair play to TUI for doing it - hopefully more follow suit. Good luck!

I have been part of the recruitment process for a similar program that aimed at getting people into the software industry. We got thousands of applicants and the system automatically throttled applicants e.g. some automatically got through to the next round while some had to wait a few days. That was to reduce the amount of interviews and CVs we had backing up to review. It was like a type of batching - the first 'batch' of applicants got send through to the video round, then we reviewed and invited to an assessment day. Then the second 'batch' of applicants got picked/got invites sent out for tests and videos, then invited to a second assessment day. Successfull candidates got picked from each. We also contacted unsuccessful guys we really liked when more capacity opened up a few months later.
It ultimately ended up being the luck of the draw for those who got hired out of the thousands of applicants. I can imagine it's a similar situation with TUI. I know I did not do well in the tests but I'm just treating that as a lesson that I need to practise those as I go down the modular path and eventually apply to roles. Hopefully a high demand for this will push more airlines to start similar programs. A salary, even minimum wage, would really open this to anyone. With the TUI program you basically need 19 months of spare cash.
You get accommodation. If you really, really wanted to you could survive on £3K if you just did nothing much outside of studies. Can grind that out in two months working at McDonald’s beforehand if you are starting from scratch.

You only get accomodation after 6 months of full time ATPLs. Straight away that's 6 months full living expenses without pay. You then have to pay for food, phone etc and whatever travel costs to the airfield and then find somewhere to live and wait for however long until you receive your first pay.

Its doable. Groundschool is six months, my guess is this is vaguely pitched at people who can just live somewhere for that time. Parents etc. Or rent the cheapest and nastiest of cheap and nasty rooms, £250/month if you’re not picky. You just need Wi-Fi.

I likely overdid it a bit, let’s make it £6K. Transport you can get yourself a cheap moped and run it on nothing. Assuming you aren’t cycling or car sharing. Plenty of people won’t have cars.

Yes you’ll need a bit of money but the idea that this is still elitist and unaffordable is pushing it.

Or… 0% credit card for three years, job done.

Application deadline?

When do we all think they’ll close applications? Understand they’ll want to close it when they receive enough but it is quite annoying if you’d like the time to submit the application.

Based on other similar schemes would it be unreasonable to guess there’s no chance they’d close it within the week?

Good to see I'm not the only one who found the logical reasoning tests super tricky. It was just a guessing game for half of them.

As one of the posters above, I also never received feedback of the assessments in any separate email as they stated , I assume none of us will have.

Also got digital interview invite the second I finished the tests.

So I'll be that guy...any tips about what's asked? Usual motivational fit type questions, asking about Tui etc?

1. Pat your head and rub your belly at the same time
2. Count backwards from 100 skipping prime numbers
3. What is your favourite ZZ Top album
4. Why TUI

I didn’t receive the feedback from assessment either.

Yeah it felt a bit awkward answering them, but my RayBan Aviators helped me keep my cool

I’m still waiting for a response to my application. It says submitted on my TUI profile, is this normal?

Fingers crossed. 🤞🏼

Was expecting the questions to be aviation related and/or at least in relation to your ambitions to become a pilot for TUI?

Do the interview and you’ll find out, all fairly basic so knowing questions in advance won’t change anything.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was automated and run through an algorithm. Anyone who's applied to grad schemes using HireVue will have experienced a similar thing. They pick up on looking at the camera, vocabulary etc. Obviously, not 100% sure this is the case but given the insurmountable amount of applications they will receive, it makes sense.
Good luck either way, about to do mine now.
