I would interpret a case study in one of a few ways. Firstly, it could be monitoring your ability to extrapolate important information from a document effectively. Then maybe presenting it to show that you understand the information and can effectively communicate it.
Secondly, it could be a different way of saying "group exercise" like many airlines use.
The other thing it could be is a case study of a scenario where role playing may come into action.
It's a new scheme so you'll have to approach things with an open mind, I'd imagine. Plus, I don't actually know anything, obvioulsly, its just how I'd interpret that
Thanks! I am so pleased I got through. Logical reasoning test was horrible, I am usually quite good in it but in this case I was struggling! I was surprised I passed.

Thanks for the response, as you said it might be a classic example of case study or... possibly more tests. I was surprised to find out that there will be a case study during the assessment day, but no mention of aptitude tests. I guess I will be preparing for both!

Totally agree! Logical reasoning was absolutely horrific. Got average, average and above average. Sadly didn't get through to the next stage, but I'm only 21 so got time on my side still and will definitely be trying again and looking at other routes too.

You have got lots of time! As you said, just keep trying and enjoy the process!

I've just been invited to do a one-way digital interview like many of you have, which online package would be best to prep for this?
pilotaptitudetest, pilotassessment or aviation insider?
Any experiences with any of those?

Thanks in advance and good luck to all.

I got a place with LE and invite to assessment for TUI (since pulled out after accepting LE). For context, I have several hours non-powered flying, 12 hours towards PPL, and career in an aviation profession with instructing experience. I got my powered hours through a scholarship. I had reached the final stage of other similar scholarships in the past.

I think with all these kind of things, they are going to want to recruit from a mix of backgrounds and experience, and there is always an element of luck involved. So a big part of it is figuring out how to make yourself stand out, and really get across your qualities, drive, and personality. I did prepare meticulously for each element, and I had learned and improved substantially after going through previous assessment processes.

Things I did / general unsolicited advice:
- get flying experience, even better if it’s through a small scholarship e.g. from the Air League, airpilots.org, Launchpoint, BWPA, ACS Flight Training. There is help out there, it can just be hard to find. I think gaining scholarships like these will help you stand out too.
- join a flying or air sports club/organisation, this is also good for making connections and finding other opportunities.
- more generally, any hobby that helps you demonstrate pilot related skills, or just anything you feel you could achieve highly in. The more skill/responsibility/challenge involved the better.
- volunteer e.g. STEM, the Air League, Air Cadets (good option if you can’t afford to fly right now too)
- study/work in an aviation related profession (this also doubles as a solid backup plan and shows your commitment)
- prepare for any application or assessment with huge attention to detail - ask someone to review your CV, do free practice tests, rehearse in front of a camera, wear a suit! Use context-action-result when providing evidence.

It’s imperative to know all about the sponsoring company, about the industry and training, also where you see yourself and why. I think it’s important to be authentic and individual with the answers, and to be confident without being over confident...

There are lots of free online resources for aptitude tests, pilot competency requirements, airline interview prep, group assessments etc that can be taken advantage of. Some want to charge you, I’d avoid these.

There is also a fully funded scholarship by Aviation South West which seems to have been hardly publicised. The closing date I believe is end of May. Only open to U26 and less than 5 hours (don’t get me started) but lots of people may be eligible for it. Optimistic that more will come out in the near future.

Just received an e-mail about an invite to an assessment centre but unfortunately I can't make it anymore. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if anybody who has already received an invite has their assessment day on Wed/Thurs/Fri, because the e-mail states there are only 2 dates available (Mon/Tue).

Scholarship Interview

Hi guys,

hope everyone is well!

I have a pilot cadet scholarship interview next week as this is my first time ever doing a pilot interview, I’ve been told to revise following.

maths and physics (anyone know what type of maths and physics syllabus to revise)

a simulator assessment (what does this consist of basic flying)

and a final 1 to 1 interview - anyone knows what type of questions for a scholarship.

I would really appreciate the help. Thank you have a great weekend!

Just out of curiosity, did they reveal who were the final Cadets for the Leading Edge fully funded programme? And how many they took on?
