Usual verbiage I see of those awarded for everyone else’s work. Totally pointless in the modern times, unless active service awards.

I would rather see an OBE awarded to a street cleaner or sewage worker of 30 years service than a desk jockey who simply gets it for being promoted usually off the backs of others.

I wouldn’t want one Langley and like 99% of that list, I didn’t deserve one either.

No DCOS or AOC's commendations published yet. The one thing I look at to see if I know anyone on that list. Then again my pension goes up and gets index linked tomorrow.
I got two commendations in my time. One was not earned. The second one was major extracurricular work so I have no issues in hanging it up. End of the day, just pieces of paper.

Kate Bingham was just a “desk jockey” in the vaccine rollout, Nutty: didn’t design any, didn’t do any trials analysis, didn’t jab anyone. You saying she shouldn’t be made a dame on that basis?

She was a political choice. Politically placed and alas a typical Tory inhouse honours job. Personnally she has done nothing outside her paid job to get it IMHO. Unlike all the doctors and nurses that have been in the war zone with dodgy equipment (including my eldest).

I believe that the Damehood was a rather thin award, considering her achievement.

England sport captains and thespians get knighthoods and damehoods. I honestly believe she should have been given a Life Peerage.

This argument that people should have to go outside their paid job to earn honours is, ahem, bollocks. You’ve recognised that yourself in the last line: doctors and nurses are doing their paid job. Unfortunately it is a line of thought that has traction in some parts of the military, and that’s why we have some people who are interested in everything except their primary duties. More Kate Bingham-style awards, please.

Married to a Tory MP.. I'll get my coat. You may support corruption. I don't.

Might affect her income. End of the day not a military award either so any arguement is more appropriate to Jet Blast IMHO. A political inhouse award. Most people I know getting MBEs in the military have gone way above and beyond their primary duties to be awarded it.

They were putting theirs and their families lives on the line, ( she wasn’t ) day in day out for the last couple of years.

While Public Health England and the NHS [at leadership levels] were like rabbits in the headlights, the appointment of Bingham was a rare success in a bleak saga ............... whereas I don't think any Western government shone in dealing with the Chinese Plague, the Vaccination program - from purchasing to distribution to jabbing has been akin to a victory in a war. Bingham was the successful general in that war.
Her achievement will, directly or indirectly, benefit all Brits, even refuseniks. She was unpaid.
This in comparison to sporting heroes [!!!! heroes !!!!!} or actors is a level above ....... unless you are/were an England cricket supporter, Alistair Cook has done nothing for you or us.

I disagree with you opinions on most subjects. This one included. The NHS has ****e leadership from upstair at the beginning. Try Boris shaking hands with every Covid patient. Your party. Bingham's sucess story was due to the infrastruture that existed below her, not because of her. Alistair Cook has done much charity work you have never seen, or cared about. You done any charity work at all? I did loads for a dying friend that was the finishing statement for my last commendation, not that I was doing the charity work for any other reason than my friend.

My vote goes to Kate Bingham.

Of course there are many others whose contribution needs to be remarked. My 'exam' question is: "Contrast and compare the contribution played by Kate Bingham and Baroness Dido Harding to defeating Covid". Answers should not contain the words 'Ah' and 'Um', so much loved by our prime minister!

Nor that strange sound 'ter' which that blustering bastard-breeding buffoon utters instead of 'to'.....
