Direct Entry Captain fact finding enquiry
Question for local pilots at CX. (I am local Shanghai base 777 Captain)
We are hearing of possibility of Direct Entry Captain positions in CX in 2022. Any news your side to sharing? Could a local Captain let me know any challenges of life in Hong Kong and the culture in CX. Training/lifestyle and flight deck relation with foreign pilots? It is a big step to move to Hong Kong so any information would be welcome.

OK , you say you are interested in joining CX as direct entry Captain. I believe you have very good pilot qualifications and experience, but I do say that CX , in my opinion , will not exist much longer in Hong Kong.

We all get along just fine in CX. Local and foreign pilots have built up a respectful of one another culture. We have a common enemy after all.
This does not extend to the mainland. The foreign pilot’s are not going to be particularly friendly. As for the local pilots you will be sure to feel their contempt.

There is a pilot shortage coming in China - again. Nowhere is perfect but for some with good records before and after Airforce life and airline, opportunities will exist in Hong Kong. I being training staff may be sooner than other colleagues.so preparation is important.
I have read of problems of terms and conditions. I cannot comment as I am not a CX employee yet. But from what I see, maybe certainly a nice change from Beijing, especially now there is peace in the city.
What about school for children and accommodation? Hopefully a good standard I heard. The wife and children must be made happy.

Come on in Zhang. The water’s lovely. And you sound like a COS 22 shoe in. Perfect fit.
It’s the best time to post. Worked for Zhang.
